My love of reading and writing, of sharing stories and the power they hold, has steered my career and work in the literary sector, built on the bedrock of my time in Edinburgh. This has lead me to work with industry-leading organisations such as The Literary Consultancy and in my role as trustee for Cymera Festival. My work in the literary sector has evolved over the years, from communications and marketing to partnerships and projects, supporting growing communities and creating welcoming spaces for writers and readers to come together.
THE LITERARY CONSULTANCY
The Literary Consultancy is the longest running editorial consultancy in the UK, led by a small and mighty team.
I’ve had the pleasure to work with TLC since 2022, supporting Aki and Joe on events, communications, marketing and workshop support.
Digital Course & Community Support • Since 2023, I’ve hosted and supported Zoom workshop series, panels and webinars for The Literary Consultancy, working with inspiring writers, editors, agents and workshop leaders.
Communications & Marketing • In 2023 and 2025, I supported TLC with their marketing, supporting events, pitching intervews, leading comms outreach and writing targeted copy.
I’m also a member of Being A Writer, a supportive writing community I highly recommend!
EVENT CHAIRING
My first event chairing on stage was with Patrick Ness at the 2015 Edinburgh International Book Festival, and I’ve loved it ever since.
I’ve gone on to moderate and chair in-person and online events at events across the UK, at the Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC), Cymera Festival, Bath Children’s Literature Festival, Bristol Women’s Literature Festival, the British Fantasy Society, Forbidden Planet and Waterstones Bristol bookshop events and more. Highlights include chairing V.E. Schwab at Cymera Festival in 2019 and interviewing V.V. James over Instagram Live from her back garden in 2020.
What I love most is diving into worlds and meeting characters authors create and having a fun, companiable conversation about their writing, their journey, and what they are passionate about.

MIRANDA GOLD
I worked with author Miranda Gold on the press and publicity of her second novel, A Small Dark Quiet published by Unbound. This ranged from press outreach ahead of the book launch and follow up events and festival apperances.
A Small Dark Quiet was reviewed in the TLS and Litro, and featured in The London Magazine. Miranda Gold appeared at Exeter Literary Festival, Portsmouth Book Festival and toured a number of UK independent bookshops.
Following the initial book launch, I built Miranda’s website and supported her with the release and publicity for the audiobook edition of A Small Dark Quiet, released with Audible.
EDINBURGH CITY OF LITERATURE TRUST
Living and working in Edinburgh set the scene for a lot of my work, relationships, projects and partners. As the Communications Executive, the project highlights are many, but there are some that remain near and dear to me.
Story Shop 10 Year Celebration • A wonderful project marking the 10 year legacy of the Story Shop Writers Programme, where local Edinburgh authors performed their work at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Together with EIBF, we hosted four pop-up stages in Charlotte Square Gardens where Edinburgh authors from over the 10 years performed live readings alongside invited authors from sister Cities of Literature.
Canongate Stars & Stories • A beautiful project bringing the literary history of Edinburgh to live in the darker months. Canongate was lit up by an illuminated trail, 20 lightboxes projecting quotations that celebrate the city’s outstanding print and publishing heritage. A real highlight was working with Out of the Blue Drill Hall to riso print the trail map.
Leith Poetry Projections • This project was a combination of international collaboration and poetic celebration. Together with 11 poems by 11 poets from 11 Cities of Literature were projected over 11 days, one every evening celebrating international poetry on the streets of Edinburgh.
