Working with literary historical fiction author, Miranda Gold
Since September 2018, I have led the press and events for Miranda Gold’s second novel in literary historical fiction, A Small Dark Quiet.
Miranda has particiapted in events for A Small Dark Quiet at the Wiener Library, Castle Bookshop in Ludlow, Waterstones Gower Street in London, Waterstones West End in Edinburgh, Golden Hare Bookshop, Edinburgh, Portsmouth Book Festival, Exeter Book Festival.
A Small Dark Quiet has been reviewed in the TLS, Litro and more.
Story Shop is a collaborative project between Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
The programme invited local Edinburgh writers to apply to read their work at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Starting in 2007, the programme was a huge success in the city and became a real landmark achievement for local writers looking to make their mark.
I had the pleasure to work on the project in 2015 and 2016.
Words on the Street was a year-long project to share the literary heritage of Edinburgh on the streets of the city. The launch event was an unveiling of a quote from Terry Gilliam’s Don Quixote script and was shared in February 2016, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
I shall tear up trees with my bare teeth! I shall crush mountains with my fists I shall go crazy – for love!
Words on the Street continued in March 2016 with the Leith Poetry Projections.
11 Cities of Literature shared 11 poems with Edinburgh.
These 11 poems were projected over 11 nights by a statue of Robbie Burns on Constitution Street. Starting on World Book Day, the project was both a celebration of the city’s literary designation and the power of poetry.
